Hello everyone. As I mentioned in an earlier entry of my diary, we now have a new addition to our family, a beautiful doe rabbit who we have named Penelope Nala, Penny for short. Please read Penny's Adoption Story to read how we came about adopting Penny and also how the rescue made a huge mistake by giving us a doe when we asked for a buck. If you want to see our beautiful Penny first, here she is.

Other bunny news is that Thumper has also been to the vets. Firstly though, some news about my vet. On our last visit with Penny, I discovered that Molly Varga, the vet we normally see is leaving Ashleigh vets. I was sad to hear this news as Molly has been such a fantastic vet to our pets. I have thanked Molly in person and also in a card as it has been so nice knowing that whenever I have taken our pets to Ashleigh vets, I know they will be given the correct diagnoses and treatment, which is also given with respect and care. We wish Molly all the very best in her next venture. Now onto Thumper's vet visit. We noticed that Thumper's right eye was watery. I saw vet Aiden Raftery and was very impressed with his examination of Thumper. She was with Aiden for over 20 minutes and he checked almost every part of Thumper. Aiden discovered that Thumper has an infection of the tear duct but its not blocked as the dye he placed in her eye, came down her nose. Considering Thumper eats alot of hay and hasn't had previous teeth problems, he doesn't think its likely to be her teeth causing the problem but of course you can't see the roots. Thumps is now on eye drops and antibiotic. 1 drop of Tiacil eye solution twice daily and 1 x 1.5ml of Baytril antibiotic. If Thumper's eye continues to water she will probably need an x-ray to check her teeth roots.

A very cute picture of Thumper

So pleased to say both Squeekie and Beatrix are very well. Squeekie won 'Best Poser' award lol at Wheekers Awards 2008 He really does love the camera lol Beatrix also came third in the 'Funkiest Hairdo' category, she is always spending hours in front of the mirror making her hair stand up lol Well done to both my piggies.

Here is a Christmas picture and movies. In the first movie you'll see Squeekie grooming. Many visitors ask why guinea pigs develop 'milky eyes' well here is proof that guinea pigs produce the milky liquid when grooming. Just a short movie of Beatrix which was cut short as she had her beady eyes on the tinsel lol I've also included a 'story movie' which was filmed in late August.

We'd like to wish all our visitors a very Happy Christmas!
