Many birthday wishes goes to my darling Sweetpea who is 5 years old today. Squeekie and Sweetpea have shared two 'veggie birthday cakes' here is a movie of them enjoying Sweetpeas cake.

As you may know my dear piggies Peachy and Jake went to Rainbow Bridge in june of this year. I have now made them a special page each.

I was concerned about Sweetpea's heart rate looking faster than Squeekies, so I arranged for Sweetpea to see a new vet at Ashleigh Vetrinary Centre It was discovered that Sweetpea may have a thyroid problem because the vet found a small swelling around her neck. Sweetpea will be having tests and also an x-ray to check her heart. Please wish Sweetpea luck.

I'm pleased to say that when I introduced Squeekie to Sweetpeas's cage, both piggies became friends very quickly. They used to have free range time together so I think that helped with the introductions as they were already familiar with each other. As well as it being lovely that they can live together, I think its helped them cope with the loss of their dear cage mates Peachy and Jake.

Our Thumper is 5 years old today. 'Happy Birthday' wishes to our gorgeous bunny Thumper. Dosen't seem like 5 years when our big boy Thumper was our small boy Thumper. Here is a picture of Thumper when he was just a few weeks old. To see more of Thumper, here is Thumper's page

Sorry I'm late updating my piggy diary about Sweetpea. As I mentioned in my last diary entry , an x-ray did reveal that my Sweetpea dose have a thyroid problem, a condition called hyperthyroidism. This was the results of her x-ray.

Sweetpea's radiographs showed a mild enlargement of the cardiac silhouette, moderate lung congestion in the dorsoventral lung fields, consistant with pulmonary oedema, but the possibility of pneumonia either viral/bacterial or fungal has been discussed. The swellng on the neck appeared calcified on radiography and cytologically was consistant with the thyroid gland. The changes noted appear to be neoplastic.

Sweetpea is now on medication both for her thyroid problem and her heart. At first, Sweetpea developed side effects to the thyroid medication but she's now producing solid poops most of the time. I'm still having to hand feed her as she's not eating enough of her pellets to at least keep her weight stable. Sweetpea still has a nose snuffle but hopefully a change of antibiotic will help. I am seeing many glimpses of my fiesty little girl :) and most of the time she seems happy and contented. Will update my diary to let you know how my dear little Sweetpea is.
